202 Stainless Steel

The 202 series has been around for many years. Until now, it has not been very popular outside the United States, but interest in this steel has increased considerably due to its very low nickel content and the increase in nickel prices, especially in recent years.

However, it is worth noting that it is not as durable as popular steels such as 304 series or 300 series. This stainless steel contains 1% - 2% copper, 14% - 16% chromium and 4% - 4.5% nickel, and its corrosion resistance is not as good as 304.

If we take a look at the areas of use, it is often used in areas that require low corrosion resistance. For example, it is frequently used in places such as window channels, industrial kitchens, furniture and buckets.

Since 200 series steels are austenitic, they do not have magnetic properties and therefore it is very difficult to separate from 300 series grades such as 316 and 304.

When using these 200 series steels, it will be even better to make a choice according to the area of use and corrosion resistance.
