303 grade stainless steel is a product that is routinely encountered and used. Despite its low corrosion resistance, 303 grade steel, which performs well in this respect according to the product price, is one of the most excellent steels in terms of machinability. In the manufacturing sector and especially in mass production areas, 303 quality stainless steel is often preferred.
It is frequently used in the production of bolts, stainless steel screws, steel nuts, steel shafts, food industry, stainless shafts, automobile gears and fasteners. 303 quality stainless steel, which can also be preferred for special decoration and electronic units, can be one of the best stainless steel products in terms of price performance when produced and annealed under good conditions.

However, at this point, sulfur reduces the corrosion resistance of the steel material, resulting in lower corrosion resistance compared to 304 grade steel.
The production of 303 grade stainless steel is more difficult than other steel grades in the same group. This is due to the adjustment of the proportions of the components of the steel and the homogeneous distribution of these components in the material. In the steels sold by our company in 303 quality standards, the distribution ratio of the relevant components is provided correctly. As we have pointed out, the emergence of the main feature of 303 quality stainless steel, whose structural properties differ from many stainless steels, occurs during the annealing of the steel.
The precise realization of the annealing process plays an important role in the development of the machinability and other properties of the steel material, and in this sense, our company takes care to improve the quality of the steel with annealing processes in the best standards. Since the annealing of 303 grade stainless steel, which is widely produced in China and India and exported to many other countries abroad, is very insensitive and sloppy in these countries, the workability of the material decreases and causes difficulties for the user. However, if 303 grade stainless steel is annealed exactly as required, all the active properties of the material show a very good performance compared to these export goods and its workability and mechanical properties increase.
Corrosion Resistance (* * *) The corrosion resistance of 303 grade stainless steel is generally lower than 304 grade stainless steel because it contains sulfur. If the area where stainless steel will be used has harsh conditions, it is recommended to prefer 304 or 316 grade stainless steels.
Mechanical Properties (*) 303 grade stainless steel has optimum mechanical properties in general if it is removed with a good annealing, but if there is an environment that requires a higher level of mechanical properties, it is recommended to prefer stainless steel in 630 (4542) or duplex (4462) quality standards.
Malleability (*) The malleability level of 303 grade stainless steel is generally at standard level, but if stainless steel is to be supplied for an environment where malleability is required, 304 grade stainless steel can be used according to the person's preference. The malleability of 304 grade stainless steel is higher than 303.
Weldability (*) Due to its sulfur content, 303 grade stainless steel does not perform well in terms of weldability, but if welding conditions are important, 304 L and 316 L type stainless steel products containing low carbon should be preferred.
Machinability (* * * * * *) The machinability of well annealed 303 grade stainless steel is the feature that makes this material stand out. If you are going to work in an environment with high machinability sensitivity, 430F grade stainless steel can be preferred even if the material structure is different.

303 non-corrosive is defined in EN standards with 1.4305 quality non-corrosive code. 303 grade stainless is also known by the code X8CrNiS18-9 when analyzed according to EN standard. It is one of the most common stainless steel grades. It has the best properties in terms of formability. It is different from other stainless steel grades with its easy processability. Since it contains nickel, it cannot be magnetized and has good corrosion resistance.
Under what conditions is this grade preferable to 303 stainless steel?
304: 304 grade stainless steel is the closest stainless steel grade to 303 grade in terms of properties. The disadvantage of 304, whose corrosion resistance and mechanical properties are stronger than 303, is its low machinability.
316: 316 grade stainless steel can be preferred as an alternative to 303 grade stainless steel where corrosion resistance is important. With its molybdenum and higher nickel content, the corrosion resistance of 316 grade stainless steel is higher than 303 and 304.
416: 416 grade stainless steel can be preferred as an alternative to 303 grade stainless steel in environments where machinability is important. The corrosion resistance of this product is lower than 303 and it is not an easily available material in market conditions.
430F: In environments where machinability is important, an alternative to 303 grade stainless steel is 430 F grade. It is available at low cost where corrosion is not important.
