Hexagonal Bar

Hexagonal Bar

Stainless steel hexagonal bars are solid six-sided long products widely used in industries requiring precision machining, mechanical strength, and corrosion resistance. Their hexagonal geometry provides excellent wrench grip, making them ideal for fasteners, fittings, valve components, and various CNC-machined parts. Hex bars are available in a wide range of across-flat dimensions and are supplied in standard 3–6 meter lengths depending on production and stock conditions.

Product Description

Product Description

Hex bars are produced through hot rolling, cold drawing, or precision grinding processes, depending on the required tolerances and surface finish. They offer uniform six-sided geometry, stable strength, and smooth surfaces that support high-accuracy machining. Stainless steel hex bars exhibit excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and dimensional consistency, making them suitable for both industrial and precision-engineered applications.

Manufacturing Characteristics

  • Hot Rolled: Suitable for general mechanical applications; standard tolerances and matte surface.

  • Cold Drawn: Improved straightness, tighter tolerances, cleaner surface; ideal for machining.

  • Ground / Polished: Close-tolerance surface produced for high-precision components such as shafts, fittings, and hydraulic parts.

Surface Conditions

Hex bars can be supplied in several surface finishes:

Hot Rolled & Pickled, Cold Drawn, Peeled/Turned, Centerless Ground, Polished/BR Finish.

Dimensional Range

  • Across Flats (A/F): 6 mm – 80 mm

  • Lengths: Typically 3 m – 6 m

  • Tolerances: Based on hot-finished, cold-finished, or ground conditions.

Applications

Stainless steel hexagonal bars are widely used in:

• Fastener production (bolts, nuts, studs, threaded parts)

• Fittings, adaptors, and connectors

• Valve and pump components

• CNC-machined precision parts

• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Automotive and transportation components

• Mechanical assemblies requiring strong, corrosion-resistant materials

• Marine and chemical processing environments where durability is critical

Advantages

Hex bars provide excellent corrosion resistance, clean machinability, high tensile and yield strength, and long service life. Their geometric profile allows easy wrench engagement, making them the preferred choice for fasteners and mechanically tightened components. They maintain dimensional accuracy even under demanding machining operations.

Relevant Standards

ASTM A276 – Specification for stainless steel bars (hot or cold finished).
