Production of Stainless Steel Rolls

Stainless steel rolls go through several stages during production, including melting and casting, shaping, annealing, descaling, cutting, and packaging.

The rolls are classified as flat products. To manufacture stainless steel rolls, raw materials are melted in a furnace at high temperatures for about 8-12 hours. The raw materials are primarily composed of iron ore, nickel, and chromium. The molten stainless steel is poured into solid forms.

These solid forms are referred to as blooms, billets, rods, and tubes. The stainless steel in this form is in a semi-finished state. Semi-finished stainless steel is heated and passed through massive cylinders for hot rolling processes.

The annealing process involves heating the material under specified conditions and then cooling it down to reduce internal stresses. Through annealing, the material becomes softer. After the annealing processes, there can be a buildup of residues on the metal surface. The descaling process refers to the removal of this residue from the surface.

Descaling can be done using electrical assistance or acids. In the final stage, stainless steel rolls are cut into specified sizes for sale. Stainless steel rolls contain at least 10.5% chromium. The quality is determined based on the chromium content and other elements in the alloy. Stainless rolls are stainless steel products rolled over one another. These stainless steel rolls are used in this form or processed into another stainless steel product.
